I am Lauren, an Oregon native about to take on the Pacific Crest Trail in 2018. I created this blog so I can share my experiences on trail and so my friends and family can follow my journey. I am by no means a blogger, in fact I have never blogged before in my life, but I am about to embark on an adventure of a lifetime so I figured now would be a good time to start.
I have developed a love for hiking and the outdoors over the last few years and have decided to dedicate part of my life, about 5 or 6 months to be exact, to walking through nature and continuing to find myself. In nature is when I feel most connected to myself and the universe. It is a place where I feel free and balanced. I have begun the journey of self discovery in the forests of Oregon and am excited to continue that journey along the PCT.
That four-legged cutie you see in the picture above is, Lyla. She is my pride and joy, my best friend, and my favorite hiking companion. Unfortunately, Lyla will not be joining me on my thru-hike but I know she will be in good hands with my parents back home. Who knows, maybe she will join me for a weekend or two. I am going to miss her the most I think.
Here’s a quote I really like. My wonderful friend, Erynn, sent it to me and it continues to resonate with me.
She has been feeling it for a while now—that sense of awakening. There is a gentle rage simmering inside her, and it is getting stronger by the day. She will hold it close to her—she will nurture it and let it grow. She won’t let anyone take it away from her. It is her rocket fuel and finally, she is going places. She can feel it down to her very core—this is her time. She will not only climb mountains—she will move them too.
